Low energy: What snacks can help?
Sometimes I feel really tired. Can you recommend some snacks to help boost my energy levels?
The best energy boosting snacks are those that combine plant proteins with complex carbohydrates. While the complex carbohydrates give you a quick pick-me-up, the protein stops your blood sugar from dropping when this quick energy is used up. Examples of these food combinations include: an apple with string cheese; cottage cheese with fruit; soy nuts with craisins; trail mix (nuts and dried fruit); peanut butter on a whole grain cracker.
