Perricone
Dr. Nicholas Perricone, a dermatologist and writer, is famous for his renowned skin care diet and recently released a new book called the Perricone Weight-Loss Diet.
The Perricone Weight-Loss Diet Meal Plan
The premise of the Perricone Weight-Loss Diet is to follow a diet rich in whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and free-range poultry—similar to the diet our ancestors ate before the era of processed foods. Unlike many other diets, which call for restricted calorie or fat intake, the Perricone weight loss diet advocates eating “good” fats that are found in nuts, avocados, and salmon. It does not focus on weight loss at all—a refreshing change from conventional diets.
An Emphasis on Health
While the Perricone diet offers weight loss as an afterthought, and instead emphasizes healthy skin, immune systems, and bodies through a diet rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, eggs, turkey, yogurt, oatmeal, beans, berries, walnuts, and more salmon. Vegetarians can substitute flax seeds and oil for the salmon. The catch is that, although the diet is generous in proportions and permits you to eat five meals a day, there are many foods that are restricted such as beef, hard cheese, bread, pasta, and fruit juice. Certain fruits are also restricted, including grapes, oranges, and watermelon, along with obvious villains such as coffee, sugar, and alcohol.
